PLADIN toe cap test


PALADIN Safety toe cap testing is carried out in accordance with the standard EN 22568-2:2019 S/A using test method ISO 22568-2:2019 Firstly, the dimensions of the caps are checked before two main tests are carried out: impact and compression.

These tests are carried out in exactly the same way for both metallic and non-metallic caps with the only difference being that non-metallic caps undergo chemical and thermal ageing prior to the test and metal toe caps also require a corrosion test.

For the impact test, a wedge-shaped striker is dropped onto the cap under which a soft calibrated  cylinder of modelling clay has been placed. This material has negligible spring-back when compressed, so it will retain the depth to which it was compressed. The height of the clay after the impact is then measured to assess whether the clearance meets the criteria set out. Not only the maximum amount of protection offered against impact intrusion into the toe space should be assessed; checking the condition of the toe cap after an impact is also required.In order to pass this test, the toe cap must be resistant to 200 Joules.

The compression test is similar, by creating a crushing effect using a calibrated machine, again using a clay cylinder which is measured.The toe cap is required by EN 22568-2:2019 to resist compression of 15,000 Newtons.

If PALADIN toe cap come with strips,then no SHVC should be detected as it is required by REACH standard.



PALADIN metal midsole(insert)test

Penetration-Resistant Insert Flexing Tester, also named as Steel Midsole Flexing Tester, is used to test penetration resistant inserts flexing resistance under least 1,100 newtons of pressure. As described in EN 22568, ISO 20344, the inserts shall exhibit no visible signs of cracking, disintegration or delamination after having been subjected to 1 *106   (one million) flexion cycles.

Number of corrosion points after testing should be less than 3


Tested with 4.5 mm nail


PALADIN toe caps and midsoles are widely used on safety footwear,protective footwear and occupational footwear.
